History
Desisto Music, originally known as Two Pie Are Music in NYC, was founded in 1984 by composer Tom Desisto and jazz vocalist Terry Blaine. The company is well known in the advertising, television, film, and record industries for innovative arrangements, lush vocal productions, and great audio quality. The combination of their impressive talents has garnered Tom and Terry two Emmy nominations, an Art Director’s Award, a Jazz Journal Record of the Year, and a Houston Film Festival Gold Jury Award.
Bios
Tom Desisto is an accomplished composer, producer, sound designer, guitarist, arranger, and engineer. After studying composition with Mario Davidovsky, Miriam Gideon, and Stanley Persky, orchestration with Jan Meyerowitz, and jazz guitar with Barry Galbraith, Tom went on to make a name for himself in many different areas of the music business. His composing/arranging credits run the gamut from serious music, jazz, rock, pop, dance, and children’s records to music of all types for film, advertising, and theater. Tom is also in demand as a sound engineer and producer, with diverse mixing and mastering credits for artists, record companies, radio, TV and film.
Jazz vocalist Terry Blaine has been singing virtually all of her life. She has enjoyed a multi-faceted career that includes live performances, recordings, studio work, television and radio shows, musical composition, songwriting, vocal arranging, and production. Her unique interpretations of classic jazz standards have brought her international attention and recognition as one of the few contemporary female jazz singers performing the hot small-band swing material from the 1930s (see TerryBlaine.com). Terry is also music therapist and internship director for Hospice, Inc., serving patients and families in New York’s Ulster and Dutchess counties.
